On November 21, 2018, the Father and the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav met in the village of Kniazhychi near Kyiv with the World Executive of the Union of Ukrainian Youth and talked with representatives of the world CYM community in 12 countries of the world.

The meeting took place on the day of Archangel Michael, who is the patron saint of CYM. Also on this day Ukraine celebrates the Day of Dignity and Freedom. Five years ago, a completely new period has come to Ukraine - the Revolution of Dignity has begun and it continues.

According to the Head of the Church, the Lord God gives us unique opportunities, and we do not have the right to neglect them. "Freedom is a spiritual concept. One may not have external coercion and do not feel free. Or one can be in a concentration camp, a Stalinist camp, and remain a free man. We have an independent state, but we have yet to build a free Ukraine," said the Head of the UGCC.

One of the great challenges facing Ukraine today, in the opinion of the Head of the Church, is the colossal wave of migration. "This can be evaluated differently, but today we are coming to a new type of community of people. The whole world is moving today ... The Ukrainian youth today is active core of this movement. And all organizations need to follow the youth," he said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav thanked the representatives of the Union for the fact that the organization was moving after the youth and declared that on the part of the UGCC, the Union has a truly reliable partner. "Let's together carry out our educational activities, both in Ukraine and within the framework of world Ukrainianity. I want to declare absolute support to CYM, for all your affairs, devoted to education of Ukrainian youth on the basis of love for God, their nation, not only in Ukraine, but in the whole world," added the Primate.

The spiritual leader of Ukrainians expressed the hope that this support will flow into a variety of different initiatives.

In October, the entire Catholic Church postponed all other matters and focused its attention on the topic of youth, its upbringing and vocations in the modern world. "I am still impressed by the Pontifical Synod. And every time, I begin to understand more deeply how critical and difficult the task of the Church and, in particular, CYM is in order to instill in our youth the deep foundations of dignity, freedom, and responsibility," shared the Head of the Church.

The Primate admitted that while visiting countries around the world, he is looking for contacts of youth organizations. And he also thanked that CYM is actively trying to open its new branches, in particular in new communities: Spain, Portugal. He expressed the hope that the same cells will be in Italy, Greece, Israel, UAE, South Africa, and everywhere where there are Ukrainians and the UGCC.

Also, the Head of the Church urged CYM to move to the east of Ukraine, because it is where the future of Ukraine is today.

"Ukrainian youth, especially in the east of Ukraine, in the center, in the south, are in great need of your presence." Today there are unique opportunities. The hearts of young people are open to a new reality. Communities such as CYM have an absolutely open field for work," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
