The Head of the UGCC met with US Congressman Jim Slattery

On May 21, 2021, at the residence of the Head of the UGCC in Kyiv, His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with the famous American politician, US Congressman of six convocations, Honorary President of the Association of American Congressmen Jim Slattery.

During the meeting, a number of topics related to the current situation of counteracting the coronavirus threat were discussed. The parties analyzed the responses to the pandemic around the world, emphasizing, in particular, the effectiveness of meeting the spiritual needs of the faithful.

As a co-organizer of the US Presidential National Prayer Breakfast and coordinator of the Interfaith Dialogue and Reconciliation Group, Mr. Slattery was interested in the state of interdenominational dialogue in Ukraine. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, described in detail this sphere of social and spiritual life and spoke about the achievements of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations in this context.

The parties devoted a lot of time to discussing issues of spiritual and moral content: preservation of traditional family values, protection of human life, peaceful coexistence between peoples in the spirit of mutual respect.

It should be noted that over the past 17 years, Jim Slattery has helped Ukraine a lot in attracting investments to the regions, receiving technical and financial assistance from the United States, promoting the country's interests in the US Congress and keeping Ukraine on the US agenda.

The meeting was also attended by Pavlo Ungurian, People's Deputy of Ukraine of VI and VIII convocations, coordinator of the Prayer Breakfast Movement in Ukraine, Michael Zhovnir, coordinator of the Ukrainian delegation to the US Presidential National Prayer Breakfast, and mitred priest Oleksa Petriv, Head of the Department for External Relations of the UGCC.

At the end of the meeting, the Father and the Head of the UGCC presented the guests with memorable gifts.
