On 15th of August on the feast of Dormition of the Mother of God, up to Gregorian calendar, the Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav took part in the pilgrimage to the Marian indulgence shrine of Hungarian Greek-Catholics, situated in Máriapócs, Hungary.

The pilgrimage was held on occasion of the 300th anniversary of a majestic glorifying miraculous icon of Virgin Mary of Máriapócs. As it is known in Máriapócs small town the copy of a pristine icon of the Mother of God wept secondly (the 1st, 2nd and 5th of August, 1795). The marvelous origin of this phenomenon was attested by the results of the special commission from an Apostolic capital. Since then this small town on East of Hungary has become a pilgrimage center for all the faithful from neighboring countries.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav greeted all the pilgrims and sent salutations from all faithful of Ukraine: “I came from Kyiv to this miraculous place to pray for peace in Europe, Hungary and for ending the war in Ukraine”.

In his word he signified that Ukrainians are fighting and dying for freedom and independence of their Motherland today, need prayers, solidarity and support from faithful of Hungary. The Head of the Church also greeted Hungarian Greek-Catholics with the proclamation of a parent state here and creating a new eparchy for the Catholics of Eastern rite.

“I am truly grateful to the Head of the Greek-Catholic Church in Hungary, Metropolitan Fillip for granting a pastoral care to Ukrainian Greek-Catholics who live in Hungary, especially for accepting our priest for servicing in a UGCC community in Budapest. I wish God listened to the prayers of every pilgrim, under the mediation of Mother of God”, - finished His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
