On 11th – 16th of September, 2015 in a Holy Land, in Galilee and Jerusalem, is being held a regular annual meeting with presidents of Council of European Episcopal Conferences.

In this year meeting Ukraine is represented by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the head of the UGCC, Archbishop Petro Maljchuk, the ordinary of Kyiv-Zhytomyr RCC and bishop Milan Shashik, eparch of Mukachevo.

Appealing to all present, His Beatitude Sviatoslav informed the heads of local Catholic Churches about the pastoral circumstances of Church servicing in Ukraine, calling them “the greatest humanity catastrophe in Europe after the World War II was over”.

The Head of the Church thanked to co-brothers in bishop’s service for praying and supporting Ukrainian people, particularly for cooperation with European structures of Caritas who gave the opportunity to grant an emergency help to thousands who have suffered from war.

Then, the Head of the UGCC requested for further solidarity with Ukraine.

“Even if mass media do not point to the war against Ukraine anymore, aggression still goes on, and how Pope Francis has said, we must conquer apathy to establish peace!” – accented His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

It is worth mentioning that all present bishops will be praying in all holy places: Capernaum, Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem for peace in Ukraine and for Ukrainian army and all who have suffered.
