The Head of the UGCC: "Today the Church shows us the source of life and victory"

We are tired, our forces are exhausting. And now, on Sunday of the Adoration of Cross, the Church of Christ shows us in its wisdom the source of life and strength. That was said by the Father and the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav during a sermon in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, in Kyiv on the Left bank of the Dnieper.

The Preacher said that this Sunday, which is called Sunday of the Adoration of Cross, we reached half fasting. "Who is really fasting, praying, going this pilgrimage road to the Resurrection, feels tired. And today the Church of Christ invites into the shadow of the Cross, to find near the soles of our crucified Savior the strength, eat, slake our thirst, get food. Hence, with the renewed forces get the strength to continue", - said the Primate to the faithful.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that in our lives we are often faced with some shortages that sometimes our Ukrainian people call poverty. Always, He says, we are short of something: prosperity, security, sometimes intelligence, wisdom, that is means to the fullness of life. "That’s why every person, regardless of whether he is rich or poor, sick or healthy, throughout his life is looking for the source of life. And here Christ's Gospel invites us to take on our cross and follow Christ. That is why this poverty we often call our own cross. From our sufferings, disadvantages and dangers we cannot escape. But the Christian wisdom invites us along with our cross to discover the source of life, find the cross of Christ the Savior, come to Him, worship Him. Gain strength from Him, wisdom, courage to continue to travel to the fullness of the Resurrection"- asks to consider the Head of the Church.

On Sunday of the Adoration of Cross, the Preacher continued, the Church teaches its children to worship Honest and Life-giving Cross. "What does it mean to worship the Crucified? This means to draw from the source of life, to be ble to find it, to be able to gain access to it"- said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

He said that when our ancestors built fortifications, the well has always been at the center of the building. "For our ancestors knew when the time of danger comes, a source of water will be a source of life, give strength to withstand the siege. Today on home soil we feel under the siege and we have to fight to survive. It is important to find the well, the source of life. Especially at a time when our country is drained of blood. We are tired, our forces are exhausting. And now the Church of Christ shows us in its wisdom onto this source. In the middle of the house we put to publicly worship the Honest and Life-giving Cross. We worship Him because that's where wells up the source of life that is available today", - is convinced the Head of the Church.

"Honest and Life-giving Cross in the history of the Christian life has always been a sign of victory. Let us take this sign, draw from the source of life, worship Him and together with Him walk to the Resurrection"- called His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
