The Head of the UGCC: "We need a revival of our united Ukraine, peace, harmony and unity in our nation"

We call upon the Holy Spirit for our people, our land, our Сhurch, to renew the face of our land, comfort us in our trouble, reconcile us and gather in the conciliarism that comes from Him. This was stated by the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav during the Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection.

The UGCC Hierarch greeted parishioners on the occasion of Pentecost, "the holiday upon us, the Church of the Holy Spirit - a holiday that we glorify one God in Trinity,- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit".

"Let this feast is the feast of new hope, a new revival, the Feast of the Holy Spirit presence among us", - stressed His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The patriarch emphasized that the feast of Pentecost is a special day and the time of approaching God to man.

"Israel celebrated the day of Pentecost as Sinai Epiphany. On Mount Sinai, Moses saw as the Lord God has written on stone tables His Law by fire - the Ten Commandments of God. And with these tables came Moses to his people, to announce them about God who had liberated them from bondage. There, on Mount Sinai, they became people, united people, who were chosen by God among all the families of the Earth, to announce through them His name to the World"- remarked the Preacher.

At the same time, He emphasized that Christ put new content on the day of Pentecost. "This day came down the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles in the form of fiery tongues. Lord God burned the Law with fire of His Spirit not on tablets of stone but in the hearts of His people. So He adopted the New Testament. This day was born the Church of Christ as the new people of God, the New Israel, on which God's grace rests. There he declared Himself the only God, but in Three Persons", - said the Head of the UGCC.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav marked that the Holy Spirit teaches us to pray, enters into a dialogue with God and reveals the mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven.

"Yesterday we experienced the inauguration of the new President. We need this revival of our united Ukraine, we need peace and harmony and unity in our nation! Because peace and conciliarism for us is a sign of a new Ukrainian life. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of peace and the spirit of unity. Let Him fill each of us, renew in our hearts the joy and the power of the Christian life, reveal the secrets of our existence and call us to Christian perfection. For He is the One who is present everywhere and fills all"- pointed out the Head of the Church.

At the Liturgy with the Head of the UGCC coserved Bishop Ken (Novakivskyi) from Vancouver and Bishop Borys (Gudziak) from Paris.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav welcomed seminarians who in the first year of study at Kyiv Theological Seminary of Three Saints in the beginning of liturgy were entitled to wear a cassock.
