It became a good tradition for the Ivano-Frankivsk Greek-Catholic community to support first-graders coming from families that found themselves in difficult circumstances. The representatives of the Charitable Foundation "Caritas", also respond to parents’ requests by providing high school students with school supplies and stationary; because their parents and guardians do not have the enough financial means to prepare them for school. This was reported by the press service of Ivano-Frankivsk Metropolitanate of EGCC.

This was reported by the press service of Ivano-Frankivsk Metropolitanate of EGCC. The donations, that were received this year, will be used to support approximately 100 children, whose parents cannot afford to buy backpacks, shoulder pads, nicely colored notebooks, shoes and clothes that are required for school lessons. The Holiday of a first backpack will start this year on 23rd of August 2012 with the prayer in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Krykhivtsi village at 12.00, and already at 13.00, the ceremonial delivery of backpacks will take place in the premises of Ivano-Frankivsk “Caritas” (which is situated on the 102 Krykhivetska street in the Krykhivtsi village). We would like to mention that, in 2004 the aid in the form of backpacks, school supplies and stationary was received by 760 children – orphans, children deprived of parental care, as well as, children raised within the families in crisis and within low-income families. Each year in August, employees of the Ivano-Frankivsk Charitable Fund "Caritas" organize the collection of charitable donations; this donation collection is joined by the residents of the city, parishioners of the UGCC, representatives of private business.
