The memory of the Kobzar was honored in Moldova

On March 9, 2009, Ukrainian diplomats and representatives of Ukrainian civic organizations and the faithful of the Parish of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God of the UGCC in the city of Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, gathered at 14:00 near the monument of Taras Shevchenko to place flowers and honor the memory of the Great Kobzar on the occasion of the 195th anniversary of his birth. At 16:00 on the premises of the Bureau of Inter-ethnic Relations of the Republic of Moldova (Aleksey Mateevich St, 109/1) a festive concert took place and state honors of Ukraine for known activists of the Ukrainian community of the Republic of Moldova were awarded. It should be noted that the Order «For merits» of the 3rd degree was awarded to the chairman of the Society of Saint Volodymyr of the UGCC, city of Bel’ts, S. D. Lyadryk. In addition, on this day, a festive Liturgy was celebrated with a prayer service for the dead in Chisinau’s Greek-Catholic Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God.
