The Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center presented its map-guidebook “Sacred Objects of Ukraine” to the Synod of Bishops

The Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC presented an advance copy of the map-guidebook “Sacred Objects of Ukraine” to the participants of the Synod of Bishops. The guidebook, which will have ten thousand copies, will be on shelves soon. Also, the highest hierarchies of the church were familiarized with five of the initial pilgrimage routes. They were developed on the basis of work of the Monitoring Group of the center, which at the beginning of year visited 44 pilgrimage places of the UGCC, where they collected unique historical information about the sacred objects, studied the infrastructure round every place, and looked at the prospects of its development.  As the head of executive working group of the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC, Dmytro Myronenko reported that a base of data of these sacral objects of the church was created. In addition, in the nearest future, the website of Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center will be launched. In the opinion of Mr. Myronenko, it is important that the work of center is carried out exceptionally in the legislative field of Ukraine. Thus, the enterprise of the religious organization “Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC” in April of this year was registered as a legal entity on the basis of the statute of the “Patriarchal Curia” center. “The purpose of activity of the enterprise is to develop, coordinate, and provide information about pilgrimages,” Mr. Myronenko said. We will popularize the Christian spiritual and cultural centers of our church, will help carry out the both group and individual pilgrimage journeys. This will take place in an organized, safe, and comfortable matter, along with high-quality spiritual and information,” he stated. Talking about a work of the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center, Mr. Myronenko underlined that his successful work would not have been possible if it did not have support in the places of the sacred objects: “We found understanding and active collaboration all across Ukraine, from the parochial to the archeparchial level,” Dmytro Myronenko reported. Will remind that the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC was created on May 8, 2009, as part of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC by the decree of Patriarch Lubomyr as a response to the initiative of the Patriarchal Community of St. Prince Volodymyr Equal-to-the-Apostles to better organize pilgrimage activity of the UGCC and to provide for the pilgrims’ spiritual needs.
