The pedestrian pilgrimage from Sambir to Zarvanytsya

Almost two hundred pilgrims took part in a pedestrian pilgrimage from Sambir to Zarvanytsya in order to pray to the Lord on behalf of workers, those addicted to alcohol and drugs, and for Divine Calling to priesthood for our Church. The pilgrimage lasted ten days and spanned a distance of over 250 km through Lviv, Ivano-Frankivs’k and Ternopil’ regions.
Almost two hundred pilgrims took part in a pedestrian pilgrimage from Sambir to Zarvanytsya in order to pray to the Lord on behalf of workers, those addicted to alcohol and drugs, and for Divine Calling to priesthood for our Church. The pilgrimage lasted ten days and spanned a distance of over 250 km through Lviv, Ivano-Frankivs’k and Ternopil’ regions. At every rest stop, the pilgrims were greeted very warmly and hospitably by local residents. The locals were invited to join the pilgrimage so that together they can ask God to bless our families. This year’s pilgrimage was the fourth consecutive annual pilgrimage from Sambir to Zarvanytsya. It was organized by the charitable fund “Caritas of Sabir-Drohobych Eparchy” alongside the Pastoral-Missionary Department of the UGCC. Each year, the pilgrimage takes on a different route in order to show as many people as possible this outward expression of love to the Lord. It is noteworthy to mention that this year’s pilgrimage had the biggest number of participants yet. The pilgrimage took place from August 7 to 16, 2009, with the possibility of joining in at any time. The route of the pilgrimage included the following rest stops : 
07.08.09. - Friday: Sambir, Ralivka, Nagirne, Vil'shanyk, Cherkhava (dinner), Urizh, Naguyevychi (lodging for the night);
08.08.09. – Saturday: Yasenytsya-Sil’na, Popeli, Boryslav (dinner), Truskavets’ (lodging for the night);
09.08.09. - Sunday: Stebnyk, Dobrohostiv, Ulychne (dinner), Dovholuka (lodging for the night);
10.08.09. - Monday: Hirne, Liubyntsi, Semyhyniv, Verkhnya Lukavytsya (dinner), Horishne, Dolishne, Lysovychi (lodging for the night);
11.08.09. – Tuesday: Bolekhiv, Herynya, Hoshiv (dinner), Tyapche, Knyazholuka, Dolyna (lodging for the night);
12.08.09. – Wednesday: Obolonya, Krekhovychi, Broshniv-Osada, Holyn’ (dinner), Pijlo, Kalush (lodging for the night);
13.08.09. – Thursday : Vistova, Bodnariv, Bryn’ (dinner), Sapohiv, Komariv, Krylos, Zalukva (lodging for the night);
14.08.09. – Friday: Halych, Tustan’, Medukha, Pidlisne, Panovychi, Zavaliv (lodging for the night);
15.08.09. – Saturday: Volytsya, Holhocha, Hvardiys’ke (dinner), Zarvanytsya (lodging for the night).
Approximate program of the pilgrimage:
7.30-8.30 – Divine Liturgy;
8.45 – breakfast by the church;
9.30 – departure;
14.00 – prayer in the church, lunch, meeting with the faithful;
16.00 – departure;
20.00 – prayer in the church, dinner, meeting with the faithful.
