From 12th up until the 16th of November 2012, the plenary meeting of the Pontifical Council regarding the Christian Unity is being held in the Vatican. The subject of discussion: "The significance of ecumenism for the new evangelization." This issue is closely linked to the thirteenth General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, the theme of which was: "The new evangelization for the Transmission of the Faith", which is important for all the Christians.

Witness to the Gospel in the modern world is a challenge with which all the churches of the Christian community are faced; it calls for closer cooperation among all Christ's disciples so as to confront the challenges, facing the faith in the cultural and social spheres, together. Typically, such plenary sessions are ended with the meeting with the Pope.

Not that long ago, Benedict XVI introduced into the Council on matters of the Christian Unity the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, who also came to Rome and will participate in the meetings of the Council.
