After the lengthy negotiations of the Apostolic Exarchate for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Italy and Spain, Bishop Dionisiy (Liakhovych) and Chaplain Fr. Dmytro Savchuk with the Spanish female monastic order «María Reparadora»,an agreement was reached to hand the temple, which belongs to the abovementioned order, over to be used by the UGCC Community of Seville (Spain).

This sacred place was constructed by Cardinal Carlos Amigo, the Archbishop Emeritus of Seville, at the end of the last century. However, due to lack of parishioners and due to practical non-utilization, it was desacralized, and thus, a variety of cultural and artistic events were being conducted by the City Council of Seville lately.

On Sunday, the 2^nd of December 2012, with the blessing of the Apostolic Visitator, Bishop Dionisiy, the Church was re-dedicated and named in honor of Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica. This was informed by the KIRIOS.
