The UGCC develops the social service for children

The Department of Social Affairs of the UGCC initiated another series of educational workshops as a part of the project of the Patriarchal Curia "Development of social service of the UGCC for children" under the title "The road of healing for children who have suffered desecration and emotional neglect". This other seminar was taking place on the 25-26th of February in the Metropolitan Joseph BenjaminRutsky Basilian Institute of Philosophy and Theological Studies.

The Department of Social Affairs of the UGCC initiated another series of educational workshops as a part of the project of the Patriarchal Curia "Development of social service of the UGCC for children" under the title "The road of healing for children who have suffered desecration and emotional neglect". This other seminar was taking place  on the 25-26th of February in the Metropolitan Joseph BenjaminRutsky Basilian Institute of Philosophy and Theological Studies.

The theme of the seminar - "Through healing the relationships: how to communicate and build relationships with orphan children". It was about the ability to communicate properly, restore relationships with the children that were hurt, as well as about how to use the therapeutic games for it.

At the beginning of the seminar, the participants were addressed by the organizer, who is the head of the Department of Social Affairs of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC, priest Andriy Nahirnyak: "It is already the third year in succession, that such training seminars are taking place. This time, moreover, they are occuring in the Year of Faith and in the Year, dedicated to social service, diaconicon. Through the conduction of such workshops, we pursue three main objectives: first of all, to increase the professionalism of those, who serve children, so that this ministry becomes more qualitative and effective; secondly, to create a forum for communication and a good opportunity for the development of internal church cooperation in social ministry to the children; thirdly, so as to once again thank all of you for this service, which is so important and valuable to the Church and to the society".

Among the 40 participants there are the officials of the diocesan Caritas, members of male and female religious orders and communities, the representatives of parishes who conduct the social service for children either in children's homes of family type, or in mobile stations of help for street children, or in social centers. Among the trainers there were employees of the Centre of child development "The Circle Family" (Lviv) - Lydia Romanchuk and Olga Ivanenko.
