“In every country, where a military chaplaincy is officially recognized by a state, there are garrison churches, where military men get together to pray on different occasions and various state and military dates of remembrance”, His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar once said.

Today, archbishop and metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk, Volodymyr Viytyshyn has consecrated a chapel of St. centurion Longinus. This chapel became the first place in Ivano – Frankivsk where military men will be prayed for in a special way, since there had been no garrison church in a city before.

The first Hierarchal Divine Liturgy was headed by Volodymyr Viytyshyn, Metropolitan of Ivano – Frankivsk together with a military chaplain Fr. Vitaliy Kuz’myn, a senior priest of the chapel and ten other military chaplains, who have done their military service in ATO for several times already.

After a common prayer the archbishop thanked everyone who have contributed to the construction of this chapel and presented certificates of appreciation. At the end of the Liturgy the participants sang A Prayer for Ukraine for peace in our country.

“Our church is always open for everyone in need, especially for military veterans, volunteers and families of fallen soldiers. We are always ready to minister them, listen and support”, said the senior priest of a parish, Fr. Vitaliy Kuz’myn.
