Today, the Christ’s Church sets the example of the Holy Fathers so that we can test ourselves for how much each of us anticipates and is ready for Christmas. The word "we" means everyone, including the clergy. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC said during his homily on Sunday of the Forefathers.

Today's Sunday gives a sense that Christmas is already very close.

Reflecting on the Gospel passage, the Head of the Church pointed out the difference between called and chosen people.

According to him, the Sunday of the Forefathers gives a feeling that guided all mankind of the Old Testament, who awaited for the Savior to come. And today's parable of the banquet invitation reveals and explains how profound this expectation is.

Head of the UGCC pointed out that the obstacle to participating in the banquet for the invited guests was their position - first of all, the lack of a sense of sensitivity to God's invitation.

Head of the UGCC pointed out that the obstacle to participating in the banquet for the invited guests was their position – first and foremost it was the lack of a sense of sensitivity to God's invitation.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that today the Church honors the holy ancestors, those Old Testament men who put God's invitation first in their lives. It was through them that the Lord prepared mankind for the coming of the Messiah.

“A person’s response to God’s invitation is a moment of truth for each of us. As we are preparing for Christmas, may the Lord be at the first place for us”, the Head of the UGCC summed up.
