During these days we are praying for peace and safety for all residents of the Crimea Peninsula, especially for the clergy and spiritual servants and laity of our Crimean Exarchate. We ask them to remember that behind their shoulders stands a great Church, which right now is together with them.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, made these comments to UGCC Department of Information in discussing the tense situation which has developed with Crimean autonomy.

UGCC Head emphasized that UGCC faithful from around the whole world are joining in the prayers for the citizens of Ukraine who live in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“The whole large UGCC family of faithful is beseeching the Merciful Lord for His intercession and assistance so that the aggravated situation in Crimea can be settled through peaceful means and that the unity and sovereignty of our country can be preserved,” noted His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
