A meeting of the eparchial and exarchate coordinators and priests associated with the movement Mothers in Prayer was held at UGCC Lviv Archeparchy Metropolitan Palace on December 28, 2012.

The meeting began with a welcome by Bishop Benedict (Aleksiychuk), Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv.

Then Rev. Petro Rak, Administrator of the Patriarchal Curia in Lviv read a Decree of His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), UGCC Head, appointing Rev. Zynoviy Khorkavy as the chaplain of the all-Ukrainian movement Mothers in Prayer, on the advice of Bishop Ihor (Vozniak), Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv.   “I am imploring God for all the graces you need in order to fulfill your service,” wrote His Beatitude Sviatoslav in the decree. Bishop Benedict explained why Rev. Zinoviy was appointed a chaplain on the advice of the Lviv Metropolitan.  In assigning a priest to such a service, UGCC Head has to first seek the advice of the bishops of the eparchy to which the priest belongs.  “My wish for you is that you will be able to open your heart to everyone,” stated Bishop Benedict in greeting Rev. Zinoviy with his new position.

According to Rev. Petro Rak, the assignment of a chaplain to the group Mothers in Prayer is a significant event in UGCC:  “This prayer movement has developed to such a degree in UGCC that it needs appropriate spiritual guidance.  I believe that the eparchial priests involved with the movement communities and particularly the mothers of this movement should support one another on the chosen path of prayer.”  The meeting continued with the introduction of eparchial priests guiding the various communities, annual reports by the coordinators, and a discussion on the statute of the movement.
