UGCC Head blesssed the cornerstone for the church of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word in Burshtyn, Ukraine

On August 3rd, UGCC Head, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, blessed the cornerstone for the building of a church for the Sisters of the Incarnate Word in Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

In turning to the participants, UGCC Head particularly emphasized : “We have just laid and blessed the cornerstone for the construction of a new church. Some non-believers, watching what we did, ask themselves: when Ukraine is undergoing such distressing times right now, why should one start building a new church? The expenses can be put towards something more useful... However, we, the faithful, state that the cornerstone of the whole Universe and every single human life, any nation is God the Lord.

The cornerstone which has been and continues to be rejected is Jesus Christ... The one who leans on Him, can build whatever. Particularly in an uncertain time, we indispensibly need a cornerstone upon which we can lean and in the midst of an unknown and uncertain ocean to certainly find something eternal and invioble.

At the conclusion of his sermon, His Beatitude Sviatoslav thanked all “who made a step in faith and began the building of this sacred church and those who supported this endeavor.”
