All young people are invited by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, to join in creating a Catechism for Youth.

All young people are invited by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, to join in creating a Catechism for Youth.

In 2011 the UGCC Catechism Christ -- Our Pascha was published.  The Church strives toward enabling every young person to be enriched by the invaluable treasure of Christian tradition that has created world history for over two thousand years, especially our spiritual tradition.  Therefore, His Beatitude Sviatoslav has delegated the UGCC Commission on Matters of Youth and the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission on to compile a Catechism for Youth—a book that would describe the treasure of faith in our Eastern Catholic Church in a style geared for youth.

UGCC Commission on Matters of Youth invites young people to a joint creation of such a catechism.  The first phase of the project, lasting until the end of March, will see the publication of short fragments of the UGCC Catechism on the site Dyvensvit.

After reading these, please answer with comments the following questions:

1. What do I not understand in this fragment?

2. What sentence or phrase struck me the most or I consider particularly significant?

Please also send quotations which assist you in comprehending the published fragments, share your views of the Catechism for Youth, discuss them with your friends and join in actively working on this.  There are no wrong questions in this work!  Write everything in which you are interested concerning the theory and living experience of a Christian, presented in the fragments of the Catechism.

You may submit as many comments as you wish.

We note that YOUCAT – the Catholic Church Catechism for Youth was received with an unusual excitement in 2011 during the World Youth Day in which some two million young people participated.  It continues to be spread in all countries.

Youth took an active role in its compilation – discussed the content and presentation style, shared photographs, chose designers and successfully defended its wish that there be an image of a man running from page to page portrayed in the Catechism.

You can join the working group of the Catechism right here.
