UGCC Head participates in meetings of Eastern Rite Catholic Bishops

The annual meeting of the Eastern Rite Catholic Bishops takes place this year in Croatia on the occasion of the 400 years of the Union of the Greek-Catholic Church of Croatia with Rome.

In Zagreb, the bishops representing 14 Eastern Rite Catholic Churches in Europe will tackle the following themes: The Second Vatican Council and the Eastern Catholic Churches; the Catechism of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; the Code of Canon Law of the Oriental Churches; and the celebrations planned for the Year of Faith in the Eastern Catholic Churches.

On Saturday 24 November, the participants will meet the President of the Republic of Croatia, His Excellency Mr Josip Josipović . Subsequently, they will travel on pilgrimage to the national shrine of the “Mother of God” at Marija Bistrica. The meeting will end on Sunday 25 November, with the celebration of Mass in the Eastern Rite in the Greek-Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Križevci, broadcast live on Croatian national television.

Participating at the meeting, ogranised by Mgr Nikola Kekić, bishop of Križevci, under the patronage of CCEE, willl be His Beatitude Svjatislav Ševčuk, Major Archbishop of the Greek-Catholic Church of the Ukraine, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, Archbishop of Zagreb, and the Secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, Archbishop Cyril Vasyl’.
