UGCC Head sent a letter of sympathy to Cardinal Timothy Dolan, addressing the tragedy which occurred at an American elementary school in Newton, Connecticut

“UGCC faithful join their brothers and sisters in USA, in expressing their grief on the occasion of an act of senseless violence directed at the most innocent ones in society. At a time when the whole world is preparing for celebrating Christmas, I pray that the families of the perished and wounded resulting from this act in Newton, Connecticut receive the blessings of healing,” stated UGCC Head, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) in his letter of sympathy dated December 18, 2012 to Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York and Head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

“In the name of all the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, I want to send to you all our prayers and expressions of sympathy on the horrific deaths of twenty children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  Please convey our deepest sympathy to the residents of Newton,” noted UGCC Primate.

A reminder, that on December 14, 2012 a shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School (Connecticut, USA), resulted in twenty-six deaths and several wounded individuals.
