UGCC Head thanked the Archbishop of Lublin for enhancing the process of Ukrainian – Polish reconciliation

UGCC Head His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) thanked the Archbishop of Lublin Stanislaw Budzik, the representative of the Polish Conference of Bishops for enhancing the process of Ukrainian-Polish reconciliation.

During the blessing of the Patriarchal Cathedral in Kyiv, UGCC Primate in thanking the official representatives of the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Churches, specifically mentioned Archbishop of Lublin Stanislaw Budzik.

“My sincere gratitude for your visit,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav turned to the Lublin Archbishop in Polish.  “Ukraine remembers the Declaration of Ukrainian-Polish Reconciliation which was prepared and signed in Warsaw this year.  Bishop Stanislaw Budzik was one of the authors of this declaration which we signed during such a complicated, in terms of Polish – Ukrainian relationships, year.”

May we remind readers that on June 28, 2013, His beatitude Sviatoslav in the name of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and Archbishop Jozef Michalik, head of the Polish Roman Catholic Episcopate, signed a joint declaration on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Volyn Tragedy.
