UGCC Head visits the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Irpin, Kyiv region

On February 10^th, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) , UGCC Head, visited the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Irpen, Kyiv region, in order  to “simply pray together as a family with the local Greek-Catholics.”

In the sermon during the Liturgy, UGCC Primate said that it is only when the person is fighting with their own sins and relies not on one’s own wisdom and knowledge, but only on God, then that person’s soul becomes filled with that which was asked.  “I wish that each one of you would  feel as God’s son or daughter  because it is exactly during the Divine Liturgy that the Lord comes to you, in order to give Himself to you.”  Also the  UGCC Major Archbishop noted that at the moment in the Liturgy when God is among us under the appearance  of bread and wine, we receive the whole Jesus Christ.

Note that a few months ago St. Anne’s Chapel of the UGCC parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin was robbed.  In referring to this unpleasant incident, His Beatitude Sviatoslav underlined that this parish congregation has had to undergo many difficulties.  Regarding these, UGCC Head advised: “If you will ask Jesus for assistance, then He will surely help because we are His beloved daughters and sons.  The building of a church is not only your private issue – it is an issue of the whole UGCC Church and our people.  May God’s love and blessing  embrace you all, so that you feel beloved by God.”
