Fr. Kostyantyn Panteley, referent of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC for chaplaincy in the penitentiary system of Ukraine, reported that on the request of the Ukrainian Interdenominational Christian Mission, after the Divine Liturgy on October 14, the UGCC will pray for the Criminal Executive-Service of Ukraine. On October 4, 2010, in the Church of Saint Oleksandr in Kyiv, representatives of 12 denominations of Ukraine responsible for prison chaplaincy held a meeting and decided to conduct a week of prayer for the workers of the Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine. “The representatives of the different denominations will ask their communities for prayer support, for their blessings, for the strength and inspiration to work for the department. Who better than the chaplains know the difficult work in the prisons? From whom can they expect gratitude and respect?” noted a priest. “Changes in society, which are also felt by prisoners, create new problems (cruelty, drug addiction, etc.) that need to be addressed. Successful measures are needed to financially provide institutions.. A proper place to conduct social and pastoral work is needed. To address today’s problems we need to ask the Holy Spirit, who gives us inspiration, for strength and encouragement to work. Chaplains and the faithful will ask for this,” summarizes Fr. Kostyantyn.  Every denomination will pray in its churches according to the following order:  * 11.10.2010 (Monday): Christians Baptists; * 12.10.2010 (Tuesday): Pentecostals; * 13.10.2010 (Wednesday): charismatic Christians; * 14.10.2010 (Thursday): Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate; * 14.10.2010 (Thursday): Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; * 15.10.2010 (Friday): Roman Catholic Church; * 16.10.2010 (Saturday): Adventists; * 17.10.2010 (Sunday): Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate.
