For the second year in a row, the subcommittee For a Sober Life works in the Berezhany youth detention center with adolescents who have committed crimes while intoxicated. Sometimes these crimes are related to the alcoholism of their parents. The rehabilitation program is held in a group of up to 12 people with the help of therapists, psychologists, and priests. The adolescents are Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic, Fr. Andrii Lohin, chair of the subcommittee, said during the start of the rehabilitation program for adolescents.

The work of the program is based on the method of “spiritual therapy,” which was developed by the subcommittee. “I tell the boys that God does not turn away from them, but is their closest friend. We discuss spiritual topics or work with texts of the Gospel. We overcame the problems of insincerity and secrecy by creating a special atmosphere. We have a clear rule for the teenagers: do not ridicule, do not judge, do share any information outside the group,” said Fr. Andrii.
