Ukrainian Catholic University Collects Christmas Gifts for Children

This year’s charity event St. Nicholas Will Not Forget You has begun at the Ukrainian Catholic University. Assistants of St. Nicholas will distribute painted decorations, handmade paper cutouts, greeting cards, Christmas ornaments, and other crafts to needy children on the night of December 19, 2010.

"In the office of St. Nicholas, which is located at UCU, children and students can create Christmas cards and decorations,” said Olena Yaremko, coordinator of the event. "At the same time, gifts for needy children are being gathered in city schools, the Lviv University, churches, and supermarkets,” said Olena Yaremko. “The Academy of Ukrainian Youth Association with the association Good Initiative, the Ukrainian Catholic University, and the Lviv City Council are taking part in the campaign. “The factory of St. Nicholas will begin to operate on December 10,” said Svitlana Rodnyenkova, its coordinator. "It will be located in Lviv Palace of Arts. From there, the assistants of St. Nicholas will take the wrapped gifts to the homes of the children in need. The volunteers will also distribute candy and Christmas cards to children and the elderly.”
