Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to celebrate 10th anniversary of patriarchal ministry of Lubomyr Husar

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the patriarchal ministry of Blessed Lubomyr Husar, Supreme Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych, on January 22-23. The main events of the celebration include the Christmas prosphora of the head of the UGCC to be held on January 22 at the International Exhibition Center and a celebratory Hierarchical Liturgy to be served on January 23 in the Church of St. Basil the Great. The liturgy is to start at 10 a.m.

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the patriarchal ministry of Blessed Lubomyr Husar, Supreme Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych, on January 22-23.  The main events of the celebration include the Christmas prosphora of the head of the UGCC to be held on  January 22 at the International Exhibition Center and a celebratory Hierarchical Liturgy to be served on January 23 in the Church of St. Basil the Great. The liturgy is to start at 10 a.m.

The celebratory events will include the presentation of the third audiobook of Patriarch Lubomyr "The Path to God" and his collection of quotations "To Be Human."  The presentation will start at 3:30 p.m. at the International Exhibition Center.

The third audiobook has been published by the multimedia studio Svichado. "The Path to God," as well as the previous editions, consists of two CDs and is recorded in the form of an interview. The interview is conducted by a distinguished journalist, the editor of the Church Department of the Weekly Mirror, Kateryna Shchotkina.

The collection "To Be Human" offers 268 quotations presented in 18 chapters. The quotations come from official addresses of the head of the UGCC, his interviews for printed and Internet publications, his three audiobooks, and various meetings.

 

Information

On December 14, 2000, the head of the UGCC Myroslav Ivan (Liubachivskyi) passed away. After his death, an extraordinary council of UGCC bishops was convened. On January 26, 2001, it was officially announced that Lubomyr (Husar) was elected new  head of the UGCC. The enthronement was held on January 28, 2001, in the Cathedral of St. George in Lviv. On the same day, it was reported that Pope John Paul II nominated Blessed Lubomyr cardinal of the Catholic Church.
