Victims of the Holodomor commemorated in Moldova

On November 21, 2010, on the initiative of the Consulate General of Ukraine in the city Balti, Moldova, a memorial service and “Light a Candle” event were held for the victims of the Holodomor.
On November 21, 2010, on the initiative of the Consulate General of Ukraine in the city Balti, Moldova, a memorial service and “Light a Candle” event were held for the victims of the Holodomor. The memorial service was led by Fr. Roman Popravka, pastor of the parish of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC in Chisinau. Consul General of Ukraine in Balti Mr. Volodymyr Nechay with consulate colleagues, the local Ukrainian Greek Catholic community of St. Volodymyr, and representatives of the Ukrainian community from the western region of Moldova took part in the event. After the prayer, candles were lit and set on a map of Ukraine. In addition, the exhibition "Punishment by Hunger: The Unknown Ukrainian Genocide of 1932-1933," prepared by the International Charitable Fund Ukraine 3000, was presented. On November 27, in the parish of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chisinau, Advisor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova Mr. Michael Haryshyn and representatives of the embassy will attend a liturgy and memorial service.
