Volleyball tournament dedicated to Christian vocation held in Lviv region

A volleyball tournament dedicated to Christian vocation was held in the Pidkamin deanery of the Eparchy of Sokal on December 17-18. Twenty-one teams of boys an girls aged 13-15 from all parishes of the deanery took part in the tournament. The winners were the boy’s team from the village of Markopil and the girl’s team from the village Sukhovolya. The event was organized at the initiative of Protopresbyter Fr. Mykhailo Bakay. The tournament started with a prayer and blessing in the parishes of Zvyzhen, Palykorovy, and Sukhovolya. The final competition took place in the school gym in Sukhovolya. The total number of participants reached 210 people. Each team was supported by the priest and the parish youth. All participants received a gift book by Bruno Ferrero, chocolate, and a cards with the wish “God, let me have new opportunities instead of problems.” The finalists received medals, and the best players received memorable statuettes and balls. “During the tournament, young parishioners saw that to achieve a goal cannot be done alone but only with the support of another person or team. Therefore, the church chose this team sport as an example of this,” said Fr. Mykhailo. This was the second tournament of this kind, and organizers plan to continue to increase the scale of the event.
