We pray before the miraculous Vyshorod Icon of the Mother of God to protect Ukraine and the whole world under her omophorion, bishop Yosyf Milyan

“That is what we say today, we are confident with her. We believe in the Resurrection with her. We approach an empty tomb with her, hoping for eternal happiness. We are not afraid of any storms with her, as much as a child, who holds their mother’s hand”, said bishop Yosyf Milyan, bishop auxiliary of Kyiv Archeparchy during his visitation to the church of Vyshorod Mother of God.

There bishop Yosyf prayed Akathist to the Theotokos, asking to protect Ukrainian people from coronavirus pandemic.

After the prayer, bishop addressed all who joined him in a prayer with online translation. In his homily he said that life is actually a struggle every day, every single moment. “Everything is got by force. Even the Kingdom of God is taken by force, the God says”.

“Standing in front of Vyshhorod Icon of the Mother of God we realize how much we lack joy today. The world lacks optimism hope and certainty, and we are praying here, saying: “Rejoice, for thou dost manifest the Resurrection of Christ”.

The bishop also mentioned that people often dictates God their own rules, as though he does not know what we really need. Israel used to pray to God in a different way. People were pleased with their God, mainly singing joyful psalms.

“We are asking Vyshorod Mother of God not to forsake her people but pray to God for us. To cover Ukraine and the whole world with her veil. We are begging for her intercession because it is impossible that the most gracious Lady leave her people in the time of peril”.
