Every day the members of the Synod serve a Divine Liturgy in the retreat center of Curitiba Archdiocese preaching on different topics of ecclesial and spiritual life. Besides the Divine Liturgy, Bishops are also praying the Sixth Hour and Vespers. Thursday, 8 September, the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (according to the Gregorian calendar) was set up as the day of spiritual renewal. Hieromonk Antoniy Roik, OSBM, gave a spiritual talk for the members of the Synod of Bishops on that day. “Synod – it is not only a simple assembly of a certain group of people or leaders of a secular organization, but it is an assembly of Bishops, of those who guide church community, who gather together to discern God’s will as for the Church entrusted them and to find the best possible means for its achievement. For this reason, a prayer is not just a supplement to the sessions, but their most essential part,” – noted the Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, Most Rev. Bohdan Dzyurakh. He called on the faithful, religious and lay people of the UGCC to keep praying (privately and liturgically) for the good outcomes of the Synod.
