His Beatitude Sviatoslav in Ivano-Frankivsk blessed the cornerstone of kindergarten

On December 22, the Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav blessed the cornerstone of the kindergarten “Ark” (“Kovcheh”) in Ivano-Frankivsk.

From the early morning the parishioners and monastics of the Congregation of the Incarnate Word were awaiting the arrival of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Head of the UGCC. In the yard of the church, the Head of the UGCC was met with loud applause of children, and the Prior of the parish -Rev. Fr. Josafat Boyko - invited His Beatitude to lead the solemn Liturgy.

The apex of the festivities became the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His Beatitude Sviatoslav together with Metropolitan Volodymyr Vijtyshyn, Bishop Taras Sen’kiv and numerous clergy. In his homily His Beatitude Sviatoslav pondered on the mystery of today’s Feast – the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. The Patriarch observed that this holiday is the triumph of victory of good over evil and he encouraged all Ukrainians to take part in this victory.

After the joint prayer, the Head of the UGCC blessed the cornerstone of the future kindergarten “Ark”. Also, in the yard the Primate blessed the icon-mosaic of Our Lady of Fatima. It is special because it’s two-sided – from the one side – Mother of God, from the other – Jesus Christ.

“This small stone must become the beginning of a big construction for God’s glory and for the good of the Ukrainian people,” noted Fr. Josafat.
