May the Almighty accept in their embrace all those who could love and live eternal life already here, on earth, the Head of the UGCC in Chicago

Today in the Divine Liturgy we recall those who are founders and builders of this particular parish of St. Volodymyr and Olha in Chicago. And even when we look at their deeds and life from a retrospective of 50 years, we can see that in their lives there were already signs of something that does not pass and matters for eternal life.

This was emphasized by the Father and the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in his sermon to the faithful during Zaupokijna Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Volodymyr and Olha in Chicago. On that day, they prayed for all the deceased founders and pastors of this temple.

"This parish is alive and active even after they have passed away from us forever. This testifies that their deeds and lives were filled with eternity, sacrifice and love for God and neighbor," said the preacher.

According to the spiritual leader of the Greek Catholics, we all need to take an example from the founders of the parish, because they devoted their service to the well-being of their neighbor.

"We pray for all of the priests, pastors of this parish, as well as all those who, with their lives and donations, helped with the construction of this holy temple. The Holy Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Hebrews says: "Remember your mentors who proclaimed the Word of God to you, and, looking carefully at the end of their lives, imitate their faith." Why? For it is a recipe for happiness and eternal life, for which each person is created. Let the Almighty accept into his eternal embraces all those who could love and live eternal life already here on earth. Let their example, life and ministry, as well as the departure to eternity, be a good example for us," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav at the end.

We would like to remind you that the Head of the Church, at the invitation of Bishop Venedikt (Aleksiychuk), the Governing Bishop of the Chicago Diocese, conducts his pastoral visit to Chicago, which will last until November 13, 2018. The purpose of the visit is to take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Saints Volodymyr and Olha parish.
