First complete school year of the Ukrainian school of city Brussels

The new Ukrainian school of Brussels recently held its opening ceremony. With this celebration began the first complete school year of the Ukrainian school, which was opened on March 22, 2009, as part of the UGCC of Brussels. In the ceremony participated the head of the school priest Oleh Zymak, CSSR, the administrator Mgr. Adriana Semenchenko, teachers, children, parents, pastors. Honored guests also took part including the ambassador of Ukraine in Belgium and the Great Dukedom of Luxemburg Mr. Evhen Bersheda and his wife, the Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine of Mr. Olexander Moroz and his wife, correspondents of BBC, Doice Velle, and others.

He expressed gratitude to the organizers of the school, and promised love and memory of Ukraine for all the sons and daughters, wherever they live. The ambassador gave a valuable gift to the library of the school: a series of textbooks and educational audio materials for the children. The priest expressed gratitude to God’s Providence for the possibility to open the first Ukrainian school in Brussels, greeted all those present on the holiday, and expressed gratitude to the ambassador for his sincere attention and work in maintaining and developing Ukrainian centers in Belgium, especially the Ukrainian schools of Brussels and Antwerp. The opening program included: a general prayer, the singing of the Hymn of Ukraine, performances by children, the greeting of the ambassador of Ukraine, the greeting of the director of the school, administrator, and teachers of the school. A general lecture was given on the theme “Christian kindness.” After the ceremony the students went to their classes for their first lesson with their teachers.
