Over decades, unfortunately, for many reasons, there was no attention paid to the History of the Church in Ukraine as a scholarly discipline. Today, as we return to such topics, it is important to further the study of this field. History of the Church, and especially, the Ukrainian Church (even if it exists in the midst of a tragic division) – is a great school of spiritual learning.
These thoughts were expressed by His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar) during the All-Ukrainian Practical Conference “Radomyshl in the History of the Ukrainian Church – 1682-1840,” which took place on        June 8, 2012 in Radomyshl, Ukraine. The former UGCC Primate believes that even those mistakes that our ancestors made and which we now make are significant to a certain extent.  “It is important that we be ourselves-- that we find ourselves -- because there is something to be sought and to be found.” He thanked the participants and the organizers of the conference.  “This is not solely an issue of historical scholarship -- it is also an issue of spiritual values.  Today we pay too little attention to spiritual values.  It is exactly these values that are reflected in the life of the Church, society and all people.   We have to build something further, ever conscious of the fact that we are standing on the shoulders of prominent people.  Then we will be able to reach far and wide,” said His Beatitude Lubomyr.
