His Beatitude Sviatoslav held the annual meeting with the staff of the Patriarchal Curia

At the beginning of 2020, we did not fully know the circumstances in which God would put us, but at the end we can safely say that we, as the Patriarchal Curia, lived it with great dignity. His Beatitude Lubomyr left us a testament: "Pray and work." Thank you that each of you has fulfilled the words of this covenant in your own way. This was stated by Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav, on the eve of the feast of St. Nicholas (December 18) during a meeting with the staff of the Patriarchal Curia. The traditional meeting at the end of the year this time took place online due to quarantine restrictions.

"Dear employees of the Patriarchal Curia, thank you for your work, ministry, and sacrifice. Obviously, such circumstances always expose and reveal all the nuances and weaknesses of the organization. However, looking the other way, we have truly seen each other in the new reality, and we can say, ‘God, thank You for every person in our community. Through her You have blessed the Church and given us the opportunity to serve the people throughout the world,’” His Beatitude Sviatoslav addressed the staff of the Patriarchal Curia.

The Primate noted that the staff of the Curia helped those who found themselves in difficult circumstances because of this disease.

"At the beginning of the pandemic, we created an anti-crisis center. Thank you to all who have worked hard to make the Church a worthy witness. Our Church has become a leader in public opinion and the right response to quarantine circumstances,” the Head of the UGCC emphasized.

The Primate also outlined the main tasks for 2021. Among them, the main one is the development of a strategy for a new pastoral plan for the next ten years.

"This time the focus of pastoral attention is on the person. The new plan should be a logical continuation of the previous one," he explained.

The Head of the Church drew attention to two documents that should be the basis for the elaboration of the future pastoral plan: the encyclical of Pope Francis "Fratelli tutti" and the post-synodal message on poverty.

In conclusion, His Beatitude Sviatoslav thanked all the workers for their work and wished them good health and inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the new year. He then encouraged all employees to join in pastoral planning.

"May this joy of Christmas accompany us throughout the year as a special intimacy of God who comes in the human body,” added the Supreme Archbishop of the UGCC in the end.
