And if you deeply analyze all our spiritual infirmities and sins can be reduced to one common denominator - little faith in God", - said on this day, March 30, the Father and the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) during a sermon to the faithful in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.
Talking about how to see own spiritual shortcomings, the Primate of the Church drew a parallel with a visit to the doctor. "I think, everyone of you who has ever visited the doctor, heard the question: what are you complaining about? If our Lord, standing in this cathedral, asked the same, what could we tell Him? We would complain about others, some evil that someone caused to us, or someone who has done something to us. And in fact, when doctor asks this question, he looks at the state of our health", - said the Preacher.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav is convinced that the greatest spiritual problems in life arise from small faith in God. "We are, apparently, believers, occasionally mention God, but when you need to build deep foundations of your life, to seek, why life waves throw us into extremes, to seek a real anchor of our own soul, then we will see that first of all we need to ask our Lord to increase our faith, strengthen our unity with Him, that no evil could fill our souls, to be carriers of the Holy Spirit. For God created a man to be a temple of the Holy Spirit" – accented the Head of the UGCC.
"So in the course of our health, in Lent, let’s make our prayer the prayer of evangelical father:"I believe, Lord, help thou my unbelief". Give me, Lord, the growing of my faith every day. Give me so I can share it with others ... Prayer and fasting - these are the means by which we can be renewed in the Holy Spirit as spring renews the face of the earth"- asks the faithful to muse His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
At the end of the service Archbishop said that next Sunday, April 6, all our church will experience a special moment - Act of the initiation of the Ukrainian people under the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
"We see today, that no one can fully protect Ukraine but God's Protection, Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the most powerful. And it is our hope and our assurance of peace, tranquility and harmony"- said the Head of the Church.
According to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, he sent a special letter to the Primates of the Orthodox Churches. They supported this initiative. And our Churches will devote under the veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary our people and country.
The Primate asked the faithful to be prepared for this important event properly. He encouraged everyone to enter upon the confession and the Eucharist. "So through our prayer, fasting, the Eucharist we can beg the Lord God for peace and a better fate for our people and our own country" – wished the Head of the Church.
