His Beatitude Sviatoslav: Today, with the voice of the three Saints and the light of Christ's Church, we call all the young men to our seminary
Saturday, 13 February 2021, 15:46 We so need lamps that would carry the word of Christ's truth to our people. Our Kyiv Archerparchy is experiencing such a great shortage of staff. I ask everyone who hears my words today: pray for the vocation to the priestly and monastic state. With these words, Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav addressed the faithful during a sermon in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ on the day of the Three Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. During the Liturgy, the Head of the Church ordained four new deacons.-

"One of the images and ways in which the Holy Scriptures proclaim the truth about God to us is the word of light," the Primate of the UGCC said at the beginning of his sermon, explaining that the light we hear about in today's Gospel, follows from the Source which is God the Father. From Him, according to the preacher, follows all that exists.
"What does it mean to share the light of God with man?" - the preacher asks and immediately answers: “Man in God's eternal plan is conceived as the bearer of the Divine life. The Lord God wants to shine the lamp of His Truth in every person. He wants to make her the bearer of the eternal and divine gift of the grace of the Holy Spirit."
The Head of the Church also drew the attention of the faithful to the fact that today we celebrate the feast of the Three Saints: Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom.
"The three lamps that proclaimed, taught, described, and correctly expressed in human language the most important truth of the Christian faith - the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. Basil pointed to the source - the Father, who gives birth to the Son and breathes the Holy Spirit. Gregory explained the nature of the non-manufactured Light that permeates the universe, warms, sanctifies and gives life to man. John taught to shine with light. As one of the most glorious preachers and teachers of Christianity in the new capital of the Roman Empire, in Constantinople, John Chrysostom suffered for his teachings, was expelled, but with the light of his holy life he shines through the whole universe today," he said.
“One of the ways Christians can shine in today's world is through ministry, in particularly, through diakonia,” the bishop is convinced.
During the Liturgy, the Head of the Church ordained four new deacons for the Kyiv Archeparchy. According to him, this is a unique moment of the glow of the Kyiv Church.
“The four new deacons are the light of the living parishes of our Church. They were born here, became Christians, grew up, felt a vocation. They also studied here, at the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary, which is celebrating its holiday today. They will serve as deacons as an integral part of the Priesthood of Christ. That is why we are so happy today for those guys, for their parishes,” he added.
The Primate then thanked God and all those involved in any kind of support for the Kyiv Seminary. "We thank God and the Three Saints who are the patrons of our seminary. Today, with their voice and the light of the Church of Christ, we invite all the boys to our seminary,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
“May the Triune God be glorified by our words and deeds, by our work. May the holy name of God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified by our thoughts, deeds, and desires. Amen,” the spiritual father of the Greek Catholics wished in conclusion.
