It is horrible to see the Russians smuggling looted property of innocent Ukrainian victims, - the Head of the UGCC on the 39th day of the war

Just a few dozen kilometers away from Kyiv, in the liberated towns, we see harrowing war crimes, mass graves with hundreds of lifeless bodies, people shot in the streets, sometimes with their hands tied, naked female bodies that have not been burned yet.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church said in his daily address on the 39th day of the Russian war against Ukraine.

The Primate noted that during the last day our land was being shaken again from Russian bombs and missiles. Our cities and villages are on fire again. Screams, cries and howls are being heard today from the Ukrainian land rising to the heavens.

This night our glorious Odesa was hit by a rocket. Fierce battles are being fought around Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donbas and Southern Ukraine. The indomitable Ukrainian Mariupol has been fighting for days.

“Yet, Ukraine is standing! Even more, Ukrainian people are gaining an astonishing internal strength to defend their Homeland. Even the horrible footages we see in the liberated cities and villages of Ukraine grant us this strength and determination.

According to him, Europe saw such horrible pictures, while liberating its cities and villages from Nazis. Ukraine is beholding this today. And it is so important that the whole world sees and hears this.

“My heart aches at the very possibility of seeing the Russian army taking the looted property out of Ukraine with whole trucks load. This is the property of the innocent victims, whom the enemy wanted to wipe out of existence”, added His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The Head of the UGCC noted that today we would stand with our hands up in prayer before our God, begging Him to stop this war.

The Archbishop expressed his gratitude to the Marian Shrines of Europe, who sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament requesting Ukraine to join the European Union.

“We thank you for the fact that the consciences of the true Christians of different world denominations are with us”, he said.
