Ivano-Frankivsk medical chaplains agreed on activity during the quarantine

Notwithstanding the spread of COVID-19 and limited movements during the quarantine, medical chaplains of Ivano-Frankivsk archeparchy of the UGCC continue to look for ways to implement vocation and service of Church for people’s good. For this reason, Zoom conference has been held.

While discussing the recent issues, every chaplain shared their personal experience with others, drawing attention to new challenges and opportunities.

At the final point of the conference, the participants agreed to prepare and distribute in all hospitals an announcement about an opportunity to receive a full dismissal granted by Apostolic Penitentiary with the blessing of Pope. This newsletter will come in handy for patients and medicals who would like to go to Confession. It will also contain a contact number of a responsible chaplain for a possible spiritual talk.

“One of the problems of a pandemic is society being stigmatized, where patients infected by COVID-19 stay on the margins, often feeling abandoned”, says Fr. Yaroslav Rokhman, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk UGCC Commission on Pastoral Health Care.

Aiming at better coordination of medical chaplains’ service, it was decided to hold online meetings weekly.

We remind that currently there are thirty-five medical chaplains who are serving in thirty-eight medical institutions located Ivano-Frankivsk archeparchy.
