Ukraine is in preparation for its 30th anniversary of independence, the guarantees of what are our defenders, Ukrainian army fighting in Ukrainian – Russian war for seven years. That is why a military parade occupies a significant place here, the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav in a program “Open Church” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, spoke about its sense.

“When we ask ourselves what this parade is for, we definitely see it as a matter of searching a motive”, says His Beatitude Sviatoslav. – Some of our neighbors throw parades to pose a threat to others, whereas parades of the Ukrainian army are to achieve an absolutely different objective. It is about showing respect to society, to our military men, to our defenders. In other words, a parade is a meeting of army and people, the meeting which is essential”.

The Major Archbishop reckons that today a parade proves unity of society to defend own country, what is a matter of nationwide concern. For civil society it is a great opportunity to pay due respect to our soldiers.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav hopes to see a decent parade this year, so our military men feel love and respect of the whole Ukrainian world outside Ukraine itself, what is a great lesson of patriotism for both, Ukrainian army and Ukrainian society.
