On the third working day the Synod of the Bishops examined the Resolution of the V session of the Patriarchal Sobor.

On Wednesday, 7 September, members of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC concluded discussing the main theme of this year’s Synod – “The Strategy of development of the UGCC for the period until 2020”. After that, the Resolution of the V session of the Patriarchal Sobor on religious life, which had been held in Prudentopolis, was examined. Hieromonk Tarsykiy Zalutskyi, OSBM, Secretary of the V session of the Patriarchal Sobor, presented to the Bishops the outcomes of the working sessions of the Sobor. He recalled the stages of preparation of the Sobor and presented for the Synod’s consideration a range of proposals which should lead to a restoration of monastic life of the UGCC, improve the formation of religious people and widely involve them in a missionary activity of the Church. Rev. Tarsykiy emphasized a positive outcome which the Sobor had upon a local church community and thanked the Head of the UGCC for convoking the Sobor in Brazil. In his turn, His Beatitude Sviatoslav on behalf of the whole Synod, expressed his gratitude and recognition to Rev. Tarsykiy and all members of the Secretariat of the Sobor for a great work, ensuring them that all the suggestions of the working sessions will be taken into consideration by the Synodal Fathers providing a basis for the Synodal decrees. In view of this, the Head of the UGCC appointed a group of Bishops for a final elaboration of the project of synodal decrees on religious life. Thursday was set up as the day of a spiritual renewal for the members of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC.
