His Beatitude Sviatoslav and the Synod of the Bishops of the UGCC expressed their gratitude to Petro (Stasyuk), the Ruling Bishop of the Diocese for Catholic Ukrainians in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania, for the fruitful work for our Church as the Head of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission and the Chairman of the Marine Apostolic Office.

"Personally and on behalf of the Synod, I would like to convey to you in this letter my sincere gratitude for many years of work as the Chairman of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission, appointed by my glorious predecessor, His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar, and later as the Head of the Department of Marine Apostolate," noted the UGCC Primate.

He later added: "I feel that under your guidance, the Patriarchal Commission and the Marine Apostolate have completed many successful projects that will benefit the faithful of our Church throughout the world. I am asking you to share with your successors the enormous experience you have gained while leading the above-mentioned structures of the Patriarchal Curia."

Since Bishop Petro resigned from those positions, the successors for a term of three years were appointed. David (Motyuk), Bishop of Edmonton, will now serve as the Head of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission, and Pavlo (Khomnitsky), Bishop of Stamford, - as the Chairman of the Department of Marine Apostolate of the UGCC.
