“Sobor” suggests top 10 the most influential Greek Catholics

In Kyiv the rating of the ten the most influential people of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) was published. As the Sobor Media Group reports, the research was carried out by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic newspaper “Sobor.” His Beatitude Lubomyr led the ten Greek Catholics with the nomination “The Face of the Church,” and the third place was taken by the active layman Myroslav Marynovych. “Obviously, to define the real influence of this or that person in the society is hard, and in such spiritual institutions such as the church, it is practically impossible. The church recognizes the saints, and our newspaper only writes about the people’s influence on church life, which is visible,” noted the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tetyana Shpaykher. “Sobor” publishes ten nominations among which include “The Face of the Church,” “The Conscience of the Society,” “The Zealous Pastor,” “The Motor of Catechization,” and others. The top ten also included Fr. Borys Gudzyak, the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Bohdan Troyanovskyj, the director of the publishing house Svichado, Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh), the head of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC, and others. The rating of influential Greek Catholics in Ukraine is published for the first time. For the maximal objectivity for the rating, three methods were used: the questioning of experts, an analysis of concrete cases of famous Greek Catholics, and an analysis of the results of the search of enquiries of these people on Internet search engines. Together with the rating an article of Petro Didula “Between goodness and holiness – one step and eternity” was published which takes another look at the rating of influential people of the UGCC. “We want to stress once again that the rating of the top 10 in no way limits the number of deserving people in the UGCC – it only shows 10 good examples,” notes the publication.
