The Commission of the UGCC "Justice and Peace" in Ivano-Frankivsk promotes the activities of youth in social processes

On the 21^st of February 2013, the head of the Commission of the UGCC "Justice and Peace", Mykhaylo Melnyk, within the frames of the project "Democratic values within the society", held a seminar-discussion "Correlation between political and ethical in social processes" in the V. Stefanyk Carpathian National University, which is in Ivano-Frankivsk. Among the participants of the seminar there were students, who participated in the projects of the Commission, and all those who are interested. Also the discussion was joined by Yulia Mysliuk, who is the candidate of political sciences, assistant professor of political science department.

This meeting became a continuation to the regular meetings, which are held between students and the experts in order to exchange experience regarding the values of a democratic society and the formation of student youth based on Christian principles.

"Politics and morality interact as a form of social consciousness and practice. Ethical values - goodness, justice, honesty, decency - not only characterize the political activities of government, the state, the party or the politician, they either support, morally sanction and encourage these activities, or condemn and block. Therefore, they have to transform into the incentive factors of politicians, statesmen and public figures. Despite the persistent prejudice, society strives for making politics moral and morality more active so as to achieve the common good", - mentioned the head of the Commission, Mykhaylo Melnyk.

Moreover, among the issues that were considered during the discussion, there was the role which the political ethics play as an element of the political culture and the discrepancies between politics and ethics in contemporary Ukraine.

In her speech "The ethical principles of carrying out the policy: the European experience and Ukrainian Perspective" Yulia Mysliuk indicated: "We have to ascertain with a regret that the Ukrainian authority has created a political environment that is most exposed to demoralization and moral degeneration ... The standards of European policy anticipate ensuring sustainable human existence through the implementation its spiritual and cultural interests. Then, the policy becomes an important tool for moral improvement of society".

According to Mr. Mykhaylo, "the event, which was conducted, started an extensive discussion on this subject and served as one of the educational and shaping elements in the consideration of this issue through sharing experience and exchanging the views".
