This year we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in a difficult time for Ukraine. The last months of our modern Ukrainian history are so similar to the Saviour’s Way of the Cross. This Easter night has set before us the question of our future, like asked questions about the future of Christ’s disciples.

With these words during His Easter homily the Father and the Head of UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav described the features of this year's celebration of Easter. It was said during the Hierarchical liturgy, which was served in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv.

The Archbishop of the UGCC, quoting the Ukrainian Prophet Taras Shevchenko said that "this night before our eyes ... Ukraine is resurrecting." "It's not the night of hopeless, but the night of enlightenment and modern Ukrainian Easter", - he added.

As the preacher remarked, that Christ is risen and Ukraine will rise today, it is spoken by Sloboda Ukraine and Dnieper Ukraine, Ukrainian steppes and Crimea, Galicia, Transcarpathia and Volyn’. "For us, Christians of the third millennium, it is important to recognize in the face of the risen Christ, our resurrected Mother (Ukraine) and believe in it, that it is and will be. For a nation that believes in the resurrection of the state – is the invincible"- said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

"This joyous day, let in our hearts there will be no sorrow. Let before the face of the risen Christ disappear every anxiety and uncertainty. Let Ukraine rejoice, for Christ is risen, and in Him is our victory forever"- wished the Head of UGCC on the day of the Resurrection.

With the head of the UGCC in the Patriarchal Cathedral Bishop Bogdan (Dziurakh), Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, Bishop Josyph (Milian), Auxiliary Bishop of Kyiv archdiocese and many priests prayed together.
