“Today I would like to appeal to you with the words of the Risen Christ: “Peace be with you!” Don’t let anybody take away this peace from you! In these days we are commemorating the end of one of the cruelest wars in the history of humanity. Indeed, the war has stopped, but we still need peace. Let the peace of Christ become for you the strength which will help you resist any provocations trying to take this peace away from you,” expressed His Beatitude Sviatoslav during the Ecumenical prayer which took place on May 8 on the occasion of the City Day in Lviv.

Let the peace of Christ become the witness which Lviv, princely city, can give to the whole of Ukraine” – said His Beatitude Sviatoslav. The Primate of the UGCC noted that the word of Christ “peace” does not mean the absence of war. The word “peace” signifies the fullness of life, fulfillment of all aspirations that a human heart can only have. This fullness of life is exactly what Christ gives his disciples and also gives us today – peace and blessing.
