August 16, 2021 in Kyiv the Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav solemnly presents the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War with an award of “Golden cross of merit” of Fr. Andriy Pshepiurskiy, a spiritual father of Sich Riflemen legion.

An award of Fr. Andriy Psepiursky demonstrates craving for not only state formation of Ukrainians but traditions of chaplaincy too: spiritual maintenance in apocalyptical dimension of military existence, where chaplains are not merely priests but friends and comrades.

An award of “Golden Cross of Merit” was established by Emperor Franz Josef in 1849 to award for service to a nation and for bravery during World War I.

Fr. Andriy Pshepiursky, a priest of the UGCC, one of the first spiritual fathers of USS in times of World War I and was persecuted by Soviet intelligence agencies. Died in 1945.
