The Head of the UGCC on Palm Sunday: Christ shows that the voice of young people is important

Today the Church of Christ calls us never to sing "Hosanna" to any human force or earthly ruler. Instead, she invites us to glorify the One over whom death has no power. This was stated by the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav during a sermon to the faithful on Palm Sunday in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

Today we celebrate one of the greatest and most joyful Christian holidays of the liturgical year - the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem.

"In the world of that time, youth and children did not have a voice, but today they receive it from God. Christ Himself shows that the voice of young people is important. They reveal the truth about that event in front of everyone who came to Jerusalem for the Passover,” the preacher said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav assures that no weapon, which is de facto the bearer of death, will succeed in confronting the mighty Messiah, who is able to raise the dead from the grave and give life to those who believe in Him.

This holiday, says the spiritual leader, is not a triumph of human power, but of God's power. This is the triumph of God, who comes to man without expecting glory from him.

The preacher notes that today we should rejoice that God is coming to us again. "On this day, God sends a special word to Ukrainians, saying: do not be afraid of the demonstration of the power on your borders, which wants to intimidate you. Listen to the word of the prophet David. ‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God,’ who today solemnly, triumphantly enters our Kyiv, like the new Jerusalem," the Head of the Church emphasized.

According to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, today we address our youth in Ukraine and in the settlements with a special word and especially pray for them.

"The Lord wants to give His own strength to a young man who opens his heart to Him, accepts Him as his King and God, and wants to build his hope, his life, his earthly path on His strength," the spiritual leader added.
