On the Sunday of the Cross, when the Church gives special honor to the life-giving cross, a processional way of the cross, led by Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, Bishop of the Curia of the Major Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych, was held in Lviv.

The processional way of the cross began at 16:00 at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel (Studite Fathers). Taking part in the prayers were clergy, religious, seminarians of Lviv Seminary, government representatives, and numerous laity of the Lviv Archeparchy. During the processional way of the cross thousands of citizens of Lviv and its suburbs reflected on the path of suffering and love which Our Lord endured in order to save humanity. As Fr. Mykola Fredyna, assistant pastor of the Church of Sts. Olha and Elizabeth, who conducted the reflections, noted in his word of thanks, this year’s way of the cross was probably the best attended ever, and a large part of the credit for this belongs to the clergy.  At the completion of the way of the cross, Bishop Hlib gave a sermon to the participants of the prayer in which he led all to deep reflection on Christ’s passion, which He suffered for each one of us. "Concluding this way of the cross, let us return to our homes changed, conscious of the great dignity, the high price which Christ paid for us and the great value of each person in the world: our sisters and our brothers," said Bishop Hlib.
